Dr. Al Falsafi
DENTIST
Dr Al Falsafi graduated from Tehran Azad Dental School in 2004. He owned two successful dental practices in Iran for 14 years with his wife and co-partner Dr. Shima Khalaj.
Dr. Jamie Kaukinen
DDS, MS, FRCD
Providing excellence in dental care has been a long-standing tradition in the Kaukinen family. Dr. Kaukinen’s grandfather was the first Finnish Canadian dentist to graduate from the University of Toronto.

Dr Shima Khalaj graduated from Tehran Azad Dental School in 2005. She owned two successful dental practices in Iran for 14 years with her Husband and co-partner Dr. Al Falsafi.
Our Staff
Annie, Receptionist
Annie was born in Hong Kong and was studied in England for 2 years before moving to Vancouver Canada in 1989. She worked in the dental field as a CDA with both orthodontic and prosthodontic module for more than 28 years. She joined Aegis Dental Centre in 2022. She also speaks fluent Cantonese.
In her spare time, she likes fishing, dining out with her friends and attending oversea dental conferences. Her main hobbies are watching videos movies online and spending time with her 2 dogs Ginger and Sugar.
Diane, Receptionist Assistant
Diane is a certified dental assistant and receptionist graduating from Vancouver Community College In 1993. In April of 1993, Diane became part of Aegis Dental team when employed by Dr.Kozier prior to his retirement in June. Diane continued working at the practice with the new owner Dr. Salvin Nicolic until the summer of 2021. Presently, Diane continues her position with the new owner Dr. Al Falsafi.
Diane has enjoyed a long career working with staff and patients to help provide the ultimate care. In her free time, Diane enjoys dancing, traveling, reading, and the outdoors.
Aljon Ferrer, Assistant
Hi, my name is Aljon and I’m a certified dental assistant here at Aegis Dental Centre. I am originally from the Philippines and have lived here in Vancouver since 2012. I have worked in plenty of different fast-food chains, became a sales representative for Telus for a short time, and worked as a warehouse associate for a while before I began studying the CDA course at CDI. I wanted to pursue a career where I can help others and create long-term relationships. Growing up, I would always be terrified to go to the dentist so now I try my best to create a cheerful and soothing environment for all patients.
During my leisure time, I like to play guitar and sing, listen to music, play a lot of video games, and play basketball.
